Artists
Artemis is proud to support an array of talented local artists’ works in our gallery.
Aileen Brown Linocut Artist is one of our favourites. Many and varied works which display a quirky look at daily life, often telling a story of the past or present. Her works feature Botanical, Animals, Places, Religion, People, and Food. Aileen’s lino technique is block colouring rather than hand colouring. A painstaking process which can sometimes include up to twelve applications on each print requiring perfect placement within the design. Aileen also gives classes in Linoprint at her house in Hawthorn.
Cam Knuckey Illustrator & Printmaker offers hand coloured linoprints and limited edition giclee prints. Wonderful colours in still life botanicals with watercolour washes and opaque gouaches, some with gold leafed backgrounds. Knuckey worked as an illustrator for a range of newspapers and magazines during the 80’s and 90’s including black & white illustrations for The Age. Now living at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges, Melbourne, he gains inspiration from local gardens and bush in the area.
